It was business as usual for GO & GETGO during blitz week. With roughly 9,000 inspectors in North America inspecting vehicles and drivers during the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s annual enforcement blitz from June 4 — 6, our drivers reported lighter than normal volumes on the road and at the scale houses.
This year’s road check blitz focused on steering and suspension. According to an article in FreightWaves, CVSA inspectors handed out 537 steering-related violations and 286 commercial vehicles were placed out of service last year. There were also 1,038 suspension and suspension-related citations issued in last year’s blitz. The blitz is designed to make drivers and transportation companies spend a little extra time in making sure their trucks are ready and legal. The upcoming event in our industry to watch for is brake safety week. According to the CVSA, this is scheduled for September 15 — 21.
